How Prizes are Decided
Admirals Choice - Based on the Sourdough Raft River Festival’s Admiral, it is their personal opinion of best craft and crew. $1000 and a trophy to display for 1 year (until the next race).
Best First Time Entry - Based on teamwork of the crew and overall appearance of craft. $250.00 & Plaque.
Most Innovative - Based primarily on craft design, as well as the extras the crew may have created to make their design or theme better. $250.00 & Plaque.
Best Skit - Based primarily on crew, and their antics while portraying a role in theme with their craft. Whether it may be an actual scripted representation in front of the judges, or if for example your theme is “Moon ships from Mars” you may choose to let your costumes do the talking for you. $250.00 & Plaque.
Titanic – Being that this award is for the craft that suffered the most damage or sank during the event in tribute to those who may have had the greatest adventure of the day. In the event of a draw judges will choose first from the distance away from the finishing area the incident happened. Plaque.
Lamplighter Award – We first gave this award last year to Walt Badowsky for all his work at keeping the fire burning. We would like to see us use this opportunity to award one of our volunteers for all their dedication and hard work. Lantern.
A NOTE ON RIVER ETIQUETTE
WE ALL WANT TO HAVE A FUN AND SAFE TIME ON THE RIVER, SO HERE ARE SOME COMMON SENSE RULES TO LIVE BY ON THE WATER:
- Make sure there are no legs or arms dangling over the edge of your raft during launch
- If you are in trouble wave your red signal to have someone arrive at your raft as soon as possible (NEVER misuse this signal)
- If you see someone red-flagging an emergency situation on their raft it is your obligation to make sure you or someone else gets to that raft as soon as possible.
