Edmonton’s Sourdough River Festival
Salutes the Canadian Navy on their 100th Anniversary
Always “Ready aye Ready”
The Sourdough River Festival will take place on Saturday, July 10
and Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Terwillegar Park, Edmonton. The Sourdough Raft Race Association is producing this fun-filled two day festival feature a Sourdough Kids Zone Mini Carnival where children can build and race their own mini raft; fun and prizes and a pancake breakfast for everyone. Watch the final moments of the spectacular official raft race and the awarding of the Admiral’s Choice Trophy and a $1000 gift prize.
Saturday Terwillegar Park
8:00 a.m – Noon Crane Service for Commercial Rafts
Noon-6:00 pm Sourdough Kids Zone Mini Carnival: family activities including face painting, games, 3rd Annual Children’s Mini Raft construction; hot dog and hamburger barbeque; proceeds going to the Youth Emergency Shelter Society (YESS)
3:00 p.m. Children’s Mini Raft Race Launch
3:45 p.m. Mini Raft Race Awards & Prize Presentations
Sunday: Terwillegar Park
8:00–10:00 a.m. Pancake Breakfast; proceeds to YESS
9:00 a.m. 2010 Admiral and entourage arrives
9:00–11:00 a.m. Sourdough Kids Zone Mini Carnival: family Activities including face painting, fun and games with all proceeds going to YESS
11:00 a.m. Launch Canoers Race the Navy Event
11:15 a.m. Captain’s Meeting and Raft Inspection

All morning Displays by the HMCS Nonsuch; Oilcity Derby Girls; Fire Rescue Crew & Rig, various demonstrations, displays, music, fun and prizes; and special guests.
Afternoon Rafters Landing
1:00 p.m. Canoers complete their Race
2:30-3:00 p.m. Rafts complete their voyage
4:00 PM Awards and Presentation at Rafters’ Landing
Best spectator locations are: High Level Bridge Waterfall – the “Great Divide” between noon to 4:00 p.m. and Laurier Park, Emily Murphy Park, Kinsmen Sport Centre, Louise McKinney Park and Rafters Landing. Plenty of parking is available at these locations so bring the whole family down to enjoy this summer event.
